Intergenerational Bookmaking

Join Matt and learn how to create simple and beautiful books of your very own. All ages are welcome, as there will different styles of bookmaking available at all levels of ability. 

Using only paper, rubber bands, glue, various cutting implements and/or needle and thread, find out how to bind pages into an empty book - which you can fill with whatever you like! Perhaps you've made a blank journal, a picture book, a place to keep your collection of poems, or other means of holding and sharing your very own stories. If you have any bookmaking materials of your own, please bring them along!

Beginner Bookmaking Grab and Go Kit

Create a small book to capture your summer stories. Our craft kit includes three beautiful bookmaking designs and all the materials you will need to create your own handmade books. Bookmaking materials and designs were generously donated by the Art Institute of Chicago.

Pick up your kit at the Sulzer Library Circulation desk. Available while supplies last!

Sulzer Improv Club

Join us at Sulzer for a five week improv theater program. Find characters, build environments and create scenes from scratch. Be a part of an ensemble. Have fun! 

We will will meet once a week to learn and practice improv games, techniques and skills. Week five will be a performance for friends and family at Bughouse Theater, a nearby non-profit improv venue. There is no experience necessary, but please note that each session will build on the previous one. Registration for this program assumes a commitment to all five weeks.
