Public Tours at Hull-House

FREE Public Tours are offered Tuesday through Friday and Sunday at 10:00AM and 3:00PM. Look below for details about tour options and themes. Please note that public tours can only accommodate a maximum of 25 visitors and the latest admittance time is 15-minutes after each tour beings. Visitors are encouraged to pre-register for one of the three tour options below to ensure a spot. We ask groups of 10 or more to schedule a separate guided tour through our Group Tours page.

Jane Addams, Hull-House Settlement and Chicago Tour. Tuesday — Fridays at 10:00am & Sundays at 10:00am and 3:00pm.
Learn an overview of the Hull-House Settlement House. Explore rooms dedicated to programs that took place in the Settlement and about key figures that took brave steps to combat social issues and to help a community grow as one.

Vernacular Architecture Tour. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00pm 
Did you know that Jane Addams turned down Chicago architect Frank Lloyd Wright and instead turned to the lesser known brothers of Pond and Pond Architects to build 12 unique buildings of the 13-building Hull-House Settlement? Learn more about the built environment of the Settlement and how everyday architecture influences us.

Gender & Sexuality at Hull-House Tour. Wednesdays and Fridays at 3:00pm 
Learn how Hull-House was a safe space for different groups of people and the way that gender and sexuality was experienced and addressed during the Progressive Era. Explore personal stories of self-expression, societal views of the LGBT+ community and learn about Addams’ long time relationship with Hull-House Reformer Mary Rozet Smith.
