Hull-House Family Day: "Always Coming Out"

“... I think of you very often and always with growing affection...”
– Jane Addams to Mary Rozet Smith, Apr. 16, 1902

Join Jane Addams Hull-House Museum as we kick-off Women’s History Month by highlighting women at Hull-House, their relationships with each other and their self expression through the arts. Learn about the arts and activism of Hull-House social reformers including co-founder and bookbinder Ellen Gates Starr. Shop Chicago-based artists with vintage items, queer crafts and vivacious designs. Explore Jane Addams as a queer historical figure and learn about her life-long partnership with social reformer Mary Rozet Smith on a Gender and Sexuality tour. Participate in button-making activities so you can wear your voice throughout 2020. Listen to a story about gender fluidity and expression in our children’s corner. Make your own block prints with print-making artists from Marimacha Monarcha Press. Come enjoy a cute day full of fun, snacks and learning for all families!

Queer Art Vendors include: Pidgeon Pagonis, Saltybrownfemmecrafts, Jaqui Arte, Wormy Orchids, & Brown and Proud Press
