Color Me Resisting: 2020 Family Day Kick-Off!

Jane Addams Hull-House Museum’s first Family Day of 2020!

This mulit-generational Martin Luther King Jr. Day gathering celebrated youth protest and resistance.

Chosen families were invited to explore the museum during guided tours. Storytime in our interactive children’s corner featured Let the Children March about youth activism and resistance. Families joined in a theater game workshop inspired by Viola Spolin, a Hull-House pioneer of American improvisation. Visitors learned about and celebrated Chicago’s legacy of public protest with artist-made coloring books. Hull-House artist Monica Trinidad led protest sign-making. Guests enjoyed educational zines about youth protest while warming up with hot chocolate, cider and snacks!
